Hemant Soren is Chief Minister now for 3rd Time
Champai Soren resigned on Wednesday, July 3rd 2024 from his Chief Minister Post and India Bloc has chosen Hemant Soren as their leader. JMM Leader Hemant Soren is now Chief Minister of Jharkhand. For the Third time he took the oath today, as chief minister of Jharkhand. However, the oath was schedule for 7th July 2024. Sudden turn around on the decision by Jharkhand governor, CP Radhakrishnan, he suddenly rescheduled it for today itself.
After Champai Soren resignation, immediately India Block handed over letters of support for 44 MLAs to the Governor.
Hemant Soren became Chief Minister for the first time in 2013. After this, in 2019, the coalition of JMM, Congress and RJD made Soren CM and he became CM for the second time. Today he took oath as CM for the third time. Earlier, his father Shri Shibu Soren and BJP’s Arjun Munda became CM for three times in Jharkhand.
Who is Champai Soren?
Champai Soren, nicked name “Tiger of Kolhan”. Who once farming with his father in a remote village in Saraikela-Kharsawan district in Jharkhand. He became chief minister on February 2nd 2024, days after his predecessor Hemant Soren resigned before he was detained by the ED.
Champai Soren, a leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), entered the limelight in February to replace Hemant Soren as the state chief minister, and his exit from the post five months later was just as dramatic.
Emotional Champai Soren said that “I got the responsibility due to the political turnaround of events in January. Now that Hemant babu is back, we have again chosen him to lead the party and the Government and Party comes first”. However, in this 5 months he has shown solidarity in his leadership as CM.
Women in the age group of 21 and 50 years, 200 units of free electricity to domestic consumers, and increasing healthcare cover to Rs 15 lakh for 33 lakh people during his five-month short stint as CM.
Assembly Election soon in Jharkhand
The assembly elections in the state due later this year, most likely Oct – Nov. The 3rd time Chief Minister has said “they will fight all together with support of collation parties i.e. Congress and RJD to eliminate BJP from the State.”
On the other side BJP has appointed Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to make strategies for the assembly elections in the state.
The Jharkhand state was formed on 15th November 2000 carving of 18 Districts out of Bihar divisions of Chota Nagpur and Santhal Parganas.
