Sri Lanka Tour: Gautam Gambhir Head Coach
The first T20 will be played on July 27 (Sri Lanka Tour)
The white-ball tour will begin with the T20s at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. In the Sri Lanka Tour, the teams will play the first T20 on July 26 and the second match on July.

The Indian team will tour Sri Lanka after the T20 series against Zimbabwe. The Indian team will play ODI and T20 series in Sri Lanka. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Thursday that India will play three T20 Internationals and as many ODIs in Pallekele and Colombo during their tour of Sri Lanka in July and August 2024
It is expected that Hardik Pandya may get the command of the T20 team, while KL Rahul can be appointed as the captain of the ODI team.
The head coach of both the teams will also handle their responsibility from this tour. The new head coach of India, Gautam Gambhir, has been appointed. This will be his first tour as a coach. He has replaced Rahul Dravid, whose tenure ended after the T20 World Cup 2024. Gautam Gambhir’s tenure will end in July 2027. Sanath Jayasuriya has been appointed as the new head coach of Sri Lanka.
Virat-Rohit rested
India has not yet announced the team for the series, but it is believed that senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be rested for this tour.
The young team is playing a 5-match T20 series on the Zimbabwe tour under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, while the team for the Sri Lanka tour is expected to announce later this week. Media reports suggest that Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jaspreet Bumrah may be rested on this tour. Team India recently won the T20 World Cup 2024 title.
